Take Time to Prepare your Home for Vacation

Rent Tables

You've settled into your new place, complete with the table, chairs, and appliances you rented from Central Rent to Own. But it's summer, and you're ready to go on vacation.

Nothing is more exciting than preparing for your vacation. Sometimes, though, we are so excited to go that we don't think about how to protect our stuff. Here are some tips to bring you back down from the clouds for a minute and make sure you are preparing for vacation wisely.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Yes, it's super exciting to go on vacation, and you want to tell whoever will listen. Social media is one of our favorite places to share our excitement. But the more people who know about your vacation, the more likely it is that someone who shouldn't know you're not home will also find out. Wait to share your details until you return, and only tell people you trust that you'll be gone.

It's also a smart idea to have someone keep an eye on things while you're gone. Share your keys and travel info with a trusted family member, friend, or neighbor. They can visit periodically to make sure all's well.

PREPPING YOUR PAD

Hide your valuables as best you can, and definitely don't leave money or jewelry out in the open. Make sure all your blinds are closed and check each window and door to make sure everything is locked. If you are concerned, consider installing a safe or additional security such as door or window locks.

EXTRA PRECAUTIONS

Other options to prepare for vacation include installing equipment to "fake" being home. This includes things like timed lights. You should also ask someone to check your mail and water your plants if you'll be gone for more than a few days. Consider asking someone to stay at your home for extra security, though sometimes this can be expensive.

Have a great vacation, and visit Central Rent to Own for all your furniture rental needs.
